I think people fear love in a lot of ways, especially since real love is like letting go. Letting go of control and letting yourself become vulnerable to someone. I don't know why, but there is a lot trust in that kind of love, which is why it can be a beautiful thing. When you know you can trust someone, no matter what happens, I don't know, it's almost like a superpower.
This track basically started when I was dealing with the death of someone in my family and I really didn't have anything positive to focus on besides music. I had written this love song a few months prior that was just sitting on my piano in my studio, and since I was having a hard time with myself, I just thought I'd take it to Ron's studio and see what could happen.
We had a lot of fun building this production together, like the big choir sound and then morphing it to sound almost like a synth. I love how intimate the vocals feel while everything has this big anthemic thing to it, too.
We had so much fun producing this one. You can hear all kinds of sound design we added in underneath the layers of guitars and drums. Ron spent hours sampling his voice into this crazy Yamaha SK synth to create this vocal pad (we buried it, but you can hear that Sigur Rós love in the beginning haha).
Dylan McClean did a great job on the mix with this one and Tim Pannella made sure the master was nice and punchy. I'm really proud of all the work we put into this one, and I'm pretty sure we're gonna put out some instrumental versions of this tune as well because the drums on this one are just crazy.
